SWINDON Shock player-coach David Colclough was ecstatic with his side as they booked their place in the National League Division Four play-off final.

Colclough’s troops picked up a 79-72 win over Manchester Giants II in their semi-final and will now come up against Division Four Midlands champions Northants Taurus in two weeks’ time.

Shock, who had already wrapped up the National League Division Four South West title, are enjoying their most successful season as a club.

“It was such a good battle. The majority of the team went up the day before so we had a good meal and bonded well,” said the Shock chief.

“Manchester were on it really quickly and I think we went down by 10 in the first quarter so I called a time-out to settle everyone down.

“I think we were a little bit nervous about playing in such a big game and they had a little bit of a crowd there too.

“It was a bit intense but we managed to claw it back towards half-time. We realised we weren’t playing well and were only down by two.

“We didn’t think they were going to be as big as they were. We knew they could shoot, I think on average they were about six foot five as a team.”

Antonio Wilburn again led by example, wrapping up an impressive 35 points to guide his team to victory.

“We came out in the second half and Antonio was on fire. They couldn’t stop him and he was doing everything he wanted to do,” added Colclough.

“I feel so bad for him because he plays a good 30 to 40 minutes per game so doesn’t really get the chance to rest.

“The second half I could just see that he was spent. I tried to use my time-outs well to give him a rest when I can.”

Following crucial baskets from Domink Sajovic and Chris Cole in the fourth quarter, Swindon were able to hold on for a narrow victory.
