WANBOROUGH’s wheelchair tennis star Louise Hunt was able to regain both the singles and the doubles title at the Polish Open.

Hunt, who did the double in Poland two years ago, went into the tournament in good form after doubles success in France at the Open De Vendee last month, and was second seed for this week’s contest in Plock.

After wrapping up the doubles title with teammate Michaela Spaanstra, with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Argentina’s Maria Florencia Moreno and Antonella Pralong, Hunt would turn her attention to the singles crown.

She then dispatched Ladislava Porizkova 6-1,6-0 in the semi-finals of the singles competition before the two-time Paralympian would have to come up against her Dutch teammate.

In their last four head-to-head meetings it was the Brit who had the better record with three wins in their last four clashes.

That would prove to bode well as Hunt started quickly and took the first set 6-3 before Spaanstra took the second 4-6 to set up a tense third set.

The top seed then went on to take the lead 2-1 after breaking the 26-year-old’s serve, but Hunt stayed firm and hit back to win 6-2 and clinch the title in a game which lasted over two hours.
