AFTER an excellent start to the season, Max Cook was invited to take part in the ADAC Northern European Moto3 Championship round as a wildcard at the World Superbike event at Donington Park.

The ADAC Moto3 Championship is a Dorna-endorsed championship focused on riders in northern Europe.

The championship includes a standard class, which is the same as the British Superbike Championship, which Cook already participates in.

After feeling unwell for the free practice session, Cook had recovered for qualifying where he saved his best laps for the end of the session.

Cook finished in fourth for the standard class and 12th overall – just 0.9 seconds off pole.

In the opening race of the weekend, the Swindon youngster made a fine start where he moved into fourth place and first in the standard class. Despite snapping the silencer of the exhaust, Cook still managed to finish third in the standard class.

For the second race, Cook was forced to change his rear shock and after starting from fourth for the standard class, he dropped down to sixth. However, he moved his way back through the field up to third before slipping back to his original starting position.

“I really wanted to show the guys what I can do,” said Cook.

“In race two, it was great to be in a five-way battle - I haven’t had a good battle like that in a really long time and it was one of my favourite races.”
