TWENTY competitors represented the Swindon School of Gymnastics at the Wiltshire Teams Championships in Melksham.

Five other clubs from around the county competed with the three highest scores on each of the four pieces of apparatus from each team counting.

In the morning, the U9s Level Six category, consisting of Hettie Truman, Annabelle Wallace, Isla McCalla, Amelia King and Jessica Reynolds, made their debut in the competition, delivering a shock gold medal.

McCalla won the category with an impressive 44.150 marks, which included the highest score on both the balance beam and bars.

The Over 13s Level Four category, which consisted of Lauren Evans, Jessica Lomas, Shannon White, Millie Swift and Samantha Young, also came out top, with White the top gymnast with 44.550 marks.

The afternoon saw the Level Five U11s of Millie White, Ellie Bell, Maisie Slattery, Amelia Simpson and Shannon Reynolds in action, with Bell going clean to come second in the section with a score of 43.900, while Slattery excelled on the beam.

Reynolds won the group vault and bars and Simpson had the highest Swindon score for the floor routines.

The Level Five U13s category of Annabelle Bath, Teegan Seed, Daniella Reynolds, Francesca Webster and Izzy Moran were last to go, Seed bravely competing on two pieces with two broken fingers.

Webster went clean and was Swindon’s top scorer with 43.850, finishing fourth overall.

Reynolds managed the top Swindon floor score to come fifth overall.

Coach Lauren Cordingley said: “I am so proud of them all and the club is really going places with these talented young ladies."

The Swindon girls are next due in action at the first round of three in the West Country League, competing against four other clubs in the Forest of Dean.
