FOURTEEN girls from Swindon School of Gymnastics successfully competed in the Wiltshire Levels Championships in Melksham.

A total of 40 gymnasts from five clubs were divided into their relevant age groups and competed set routines for either (skill) levels six, five or four.

It was the first time the competition recognised rankings on each of the vault, bars, beam and floor disciplines in addition to rewarding the overall winners.

First up for Swindon were the eight year old level six competitors Amelia King, Isla McCalla, Jessica Reynolds and Demi Hagan who, between them, took home an impressive 15 medals.

McCalla came home with the extra overall bronze medal and Hagan the silver.

In the nine year old level six category, Hettie Truman claimed a medal on each piece and an overall silver.

Beth Cooley competed in the 10/11 year old level five section, a fine floor routine earning her the bronze medal, while she was fourth overall, while Amelie Tyler and Daniella Reynolds, in the 12 year old level five group, earned six medals and came second and third overall.

The 13 year level five gymnasts - Annabelle Bath, Tegan Seed, Izzy Moran and Kimmy Shopland - won eight medals between them, two of which were gold for Bath on vault and Shopland on the beam. Bath also took silver overall.

The 15+ level five competition saw Ellie Swift steal the show, taking home five medals of which three were golds, including the overall title.

Jessica Lomas won the floor, was second on bars and fourth overall in the level four category.
