LAURA Halford will be hoping for a better second day at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Italy today.

The Cricklade star put in a solid performance with the hoop in Pesaro yesterday lunchtime as she scored 14.500 for her display.

However, the former Esprit gymnast was unable to make the hoop finals as she ranked 14th for her performance.

But when the Commonwealth Games silver medallist returned with the ball, she could only score 9.100 as she suffered a penalty.

Halford will complete her qualifying rounds this afternoon opening up with the ribbon before her final display with the clubs.
