LAWN B were forced to battle hard against Royal Wootton Bassett A to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in Division Two in the Swindon and District Winter League last Saturday.

Defensively, Lawn took hold of the game from start to finish and scored some excellent goals to take an early lead.

Bassett never gave up and kept coming back at Lawn, but Lawn remained strong, kept control and extended their lead each quarter to win 48-31, with Gemma Duff named player of the match for victors and Mollie Smith taking the honours for Bassett.

Elsewhere in the division, Lawn C suffered a 50-42 defeat to high-flying Burmah B with Fi Bowering the C side’s player of the match.

Moonraker remain top of Division Four with a 100 per cent record after they beat Lawn D 50-31.

Cath Watts was player of the match for the league leaders, while Hannah Simpson was Lawn’s star performer.

Bassett’s B team stayed hot on Moonraker’s heels from their 53-15 success over Pinehurst D with Lilli Beard player of the match.

Jess Smith put in a player of the match performance for Bassett C as were edged out 40-35 by Faringdon.

Lawn E retained their one-point lead at the top of the Division Five table thanks to a 43-24 win over Raychem G with Em Osborune the player of the match.

Lawn’s O35 enjoyed a 45-27 win over Abbeymeads with Lyn Palmer the star performer.

Lawn’s U14 side will play in Division One of the South West Regional League following a seeding tournament at Paignton Academy.

They defeated Cheltenham, Jersey and Team Bath and lost against Poole and Exeter to put Lawn into a play-off, where they defeated a side from Gloucester to secure their Division One berth.
