SWINDON stayed in the frame at the top of GoCrea8 League Conference North with a win and a draw from their two weekend matches.

An opening 2-2 draw with fellow top-four side Marlborough was followed up by a 12-0 thrashing of Bath Buccs C on Sunday.

Against Marlborough, the hosts found themselves behind but Lewis Dyer dragged them level with a pinpoint finish from the top right of the circle.

Swindon took the lead from a short corner of their own, as a drag from Thomas Lentschner was stopped but injector Henry Cheney reacted quickest to flick home from close range.

The second half saw Swindon continue to press and largely contain Marlborough, however an uncharacteristic mistake from veteran Alan Gough saw Marlborough draw level.

Swindon cruised to a third win in four games at home to pointless Bath Buccs C. The goals started flowing early, with Swindon getting eight in the first half.

Superior workrate and movement proved too much for the visitors and Swindon carved them open at will.

The second half saw them continue to dominate and the vast majority of the game was played inside the Buccs’ final third, although Swindon were denied a further hatful of goals by their own wastefulness.

Lentschner and Tom Wickens grabbed four apiece, while Tom Goldsmith netted a hat-trick and Henry Cheney added the other.

Captain Goldsmith said: “I’m happy with the win. Conditions were dreadful and we lost our shape a bit in the second half as we pressed for more goals, but the result was never in doubt.”

In the West Clubs League Premier Division 2A, Swindon Ladies were beaten 1-0 by leaders Team Bath Buccaneers.
