LAURA Halford was satisfied she had delivered her best on the big stage after securing a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Australia today.

The rhythmic gymnast from Cricklade won a silver medal in the individual hoop final at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre on the Gold Coast, to clinch her fourth Commonwealth Games medal.

The 22 year old won team silver and two individual bronze medals in Glasgow four years ago and her medal on this occasion gave Wales a 26th medal on the Gold Coast to beat their previous Commonwealth Games overseas record set in Auckland in 1990.

Halford had finished narrowly out of the medals in fifth in the all-around final on Thursday, but reckoned today's success made up for a tinge of disappointment at that result.

"I'm just so, so happy,'' the former Swindon Esprit Academy competitor told BBC Sport Wales, having also finished fourth in the ball and ribbon finals.

"I was a tiny bit disappointed with the (all-around) result yesterday. I was really pleased with how I performed (but) it was just that it was so close at the end, I was a tiny bit upset.

"But now it makes it all worth it.

"It (four Commonwealth Games medals) is just crazy. I was so close to another one in ribbon at the end, but I've really enjoyed performing and this whole experience has been amazing.

"I'm human, I'm not a robot and mistakes happen, but I just wanted to come here and enjoy every second of it and I've definitely done that so I can walk away really happy.

"I definitely put a lot of pressure on myself. My coach could tell you that sometimes I've been a bit of a nightmare in the gym. But I think now this medal has made everything all worth it.

"I managed to come out here and do my best performances which was the goal for the competition.''
