Swindon’s Kenny Gilbertson twice finished outside of the podium positions. in the ViSK British Superbike Mirror.co.uk Cup at Knockhill in Scotland.
He suffered a massive engine failure in first free practice and could take no part in any further practice or qualifying.
And despite having the engine repaired for the first race, he had to retire with an electrical problem.
Running on a bike with standard gearing and a less than ideal suspension set-up he was also down the field in the second race.
Devizes’ Tommy Bridewell continued his recent run of form as he earned a priceless double win.
The NB Suzuki rider, who last year rode in the Italian Superbike Championship, picked up from where he had left off at Snetterton two weeks ago, claiming a first and second race win .
“It is great to get another win but I can't stop thinking, if we had the funding and the budget of the factory teams, perhaps we could be even higher up the rankings,” said Bridewell.
