TURF TALK: Bling Bling brings Jones another win

East Kennet permit trainer Peter Jones was in the winners’ enclosure again at Ludlow in the week when his charge Lady Bling Bling won the National Hunt Novices Handicap Hurdle at 8-1.

Following the mare’s recent win at Kempton she was given a 13lb penalty, much to the disappointment of the local trainer.

However, the booking of 7lb claimer Danny Burton took some of the burden off, and she stayed on well to win by two and a half lengths.

Off the course for well over a year, the trainer praised the efforts of vet Bobby McEwan who treated Lady Bling Bling for an infection.

Jones also added that he was really pleased to give Danny a winner because he is the son of a family friend and he rides well.

After her last victory, readers of Turf Talk may have noticed the final paragraph which read: “Should Jones decide not to run at Wincanton (the meeting was abandoned) the trainer is pretty shrewd placing his horses and Lady Bling Bling could be worth keeping a look out for.”

Tomorrow’s meetings are scheduled for Huntingdon and Sedgefield.

Trainer J Howard Johnson and jockey Dennis O’Regan could be worth following at Sedgefield, as could jockey Tom Scudamore who makes the long trip north to partner Prince Tam in the Normarine Handicap Chase.

At Huntingdon, Rapid Increase and Prince Du Seuil are possible winners.
