Swindon's Brizzle Blue races into the semi-finals

HOME favourite Brizzle Blue was the star performer during the second round of the Two-Year-Old British Bred Produce Stakes which was held at Blunsdon on Friday night.

Blue, trained by local trainer Alan McDowell, took the lead off the second bend of his race and drew clear of his rivals to win by over lengths.

His time of 28.28 was the fastest of the night, and was just 0.08 seconds off the track record.

The dog is now expected to be one of the favourites to scoop the £15,000 first prize in the final which is held at the track on Saturday night.

Swindon also had two other qualifiers for the next round, in the form of Chilli Hot Sauce and Gemstone Jack, both trained by Kevin Hutton.

There were some other very good performances on the night, most notably Westmead Adonis who had been picked as the favourite for the overall title from the start.

Adonis won by over seven lengths and recorded a time of 28.31, while Romeo You Decide also ran well to win the first heat in a time of 28.54.

The semi-finals are being held on Wednesday night over three heats, with the first two in each making it through to Saturday’s final.
