ATHLETICS: Rob and Ben shine for understrength Harriers
MISSING several key performers, Swindon Harriers finished a battling fifth place in their opening Southern Mens League Division One match of the season at Battersea Park in London.
One of Harriers' top athletes, Rob Warensjo, was one of the first on show in the pole vault and he did enough to win the A event in 4.20 metres.
The middle distance athletes had an excellent day.

Ben Scarlett travelled from Kent and won both the 800m and 1500m A events without being tested.
Similarly, Paul Key won the B string in 800m, moving ahead of the field on the second lap. Under 20 athlete Dan Pidgeon continued to improve and won the 1500m B race convincingly in a personal best time of 4.12.7.
Key also finished second in the B long jump and third in the A 3000m steeplechase.
Tony Jackson was second in the A hammer and picked up points in the other field events.
Ed New provided points from the sprints and javelin while James Neal also contributed as did Ashley Fox.
Triple and long jumper Kenton Mielnik had to settle for the lower positions while the 4x400m relay side came in second.
Harriers expect a stronger available squad for the next match at Woking on May 17, although hurdler Toby Ulm will not be back from his studies in the USA until June, whil recent Masters world record holder in 400m hurdles (M50) Howard Moscrop has a minor injury.
