WILTSHIRE failed in their gallant bid to win promotion to Premier B after finishing bottom of the four-way county play-off in Milton Keynes.
Lanarkshire and Hertfordshire 2nd took the two promotion places, while Kent and Wiltshire were consigned to another season at regional level.
Wiltshire got off to the worst possible start in their opening match, losing all four singles against Kent.

Justin Andrews and Anthony Bush, and Veronique Manook and Julie Russell won their level doubles however to bring Wiltshire back into contention.
This was followed by wins in the mixed doubles for Russel and Sean Locke, and Andrews and Heather McCune, but it wasn't enough to claw back the early deficit as Kent wrapped up a 9-6 win.
Wiltshire's second match was against favourites Herts 2nd, who were armed with current England No 3 ladies singles player Rachel Howard and Jo Goode, winner of an Olympic bronze and All England champion in mixed doubles.
Herts proved far too strong for Wiltshire, with mens singles players Ben Caldwell and Simon Woodhouse the only victors in a 13-2 defeat.
The final match on Sunday was against Lanarkshire.
The scores were level after the singles, with wins for Woodhouse and Lisa Turner. Lanarkshire won all four mens doubles, but Wiltshire fought back to take three of the four ladies doubles.
Trailing 7-5, Wiltshire needed to win all three mixed doubles, but it was Lanarkshire who produced the clean sweep to claim an overall 10-5 victory.
