Oliver and Izaac earn regional call-ups

GYMNASTICS

OLIVER Shakels and Izaac Turner have been selected to represent the south in their respective age groups at the national regional development plan finals in Newcastle later this month.

It followed the Swindon School of Gymnastic duo's performances at the regional finals in Exeter, where Shakels finished sixth in the intermediate two level, and Turner fourth in the intermediate one age group.

Chris Jones came seventh in the intermediate two level, and will go to the finals as reserve.

Peter Newton was eighth in the same age group, despite suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome.

In the primary one age group one year out of age, Ben Hyner took gold, as did Michael Davis in the primary four group two years out of age.
