DAVID Howell will be hoping for a better round at the Trophee Hassan II today after finishing his opening round in Morocco on level par.

The 38-year-old finished his opening 18 holes tied for 51st place in North Africa but that came after being three-under-par at one stage.

Howell is back out on the course at 12.55pm today alongside Marc Warren, who begins the day on six-under and Robert Rock, who is one-under.

Starting on the 10th tee, Howell birdied his opening two holes to give him a perfect start.

However, with a bogey four at the 12th, he was soon brought into check before parring the following three holes.

He then had a birdie two on the 16th and took a four on the par-five 17th to send him three-under to place inside the top 10.

But following a bogey on the 18th and then a birdie on the first, the round started to go wrong.

Dropping shots on four, seven and nine saw him slip to 51st.
