DAVID Howell will be looking to make the most of good night’s sleep when he begins his third round at the KLM Open tomorrow.

The Broome Manor ace finished his second round this afternoon having only completed his first session in the morning.

Having began the day two-under-par, the 39-year-old parred the final two holes of his first round.

Then 40 minutes later the Swindon star was back out on the course at Zandvoort in Holland for his second round.

Starting on the 10th, Howell cancelled out his bogey six on 12 with a birdie three on the 13th.

But he dropped a shot on the 16th with a bogey five to finish the back nine on one-over.

Birdies on three, four and six saw Howell move to two-under for the round and four-under for the tournament.

But a bogey four at eight saw the Swindon ace end his day three-under.

“I was pretty tired once we got to the final hole,” Howell told the Advertiser.

“I didn’t get to eat until after 9pm on the Thursday and then I was up 5.45am to finish my first round.

“There was a 40 minute break between the rounds so that wasn’t too much of a problem, but I planning to get an early night tonight and come out fresh tomorrow.

“I’ve played some nice stuff over the last couple of days and if I can a couple more we should be in good shape.

“I don’t feel that any department of my game has been letting down and hopefully that will continue over the weekend.

“If I can have a good round Saturday and be in touching distance on the Sunday I’ll be happy.

“If I can’t win then I be hoping that I can get a top three or four finish.”
