SWINDON pro David Howell tees off on his first tournament of the 2015 European Tour season today in Abu Dhabi.
The tournament marks the start of Howell’s 20th season as a professional and it is a course where the Wiltshireman has good memories. In 2013 Howell banked a cool €60,000 after securing a tied sixth finish.
That week Howell finished with a score of nine under for the tournament. He carded excellent sub-70 first and third rounds, but for the final back nine on the Sunday, where he dropped three shots, he could have challenged Jamie Donaldson for the title.
The 39-year-old will be hoping for a similar show this time around, with his last top 20 finish coming five tournaments ago at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the Old Course at St Andrews back in October.
