SWINDON’S David Howell has made a disappointing start to his campaign at the Tshwane Open carding a two over par first round.

The Broome Manor pro set off badly in Pretoria as he bogeyed the par-four third and followed that up with another bogey on the par-four seventh to go out in 37.

Howell had looked to get himself back on track when he birdied the par-four 10th and the par-five 12th.

However, a double bogey on the par-four 15th put him back to where he began the back nine, and he finished on a score of 72.

Howell is now at risk of missing the cut for the weekend with, Morten Orum Madsem and David Horsey leading the field on seven under par, with the 39-year-old outside the top 100.
