DAVID Howell is facing a long wait to see if he will make the cut at the European Open this weekend.

The Swindon ace recorded back-to-back birdies to end his second round of the tournament in Bad Griesbach three-under-par.

However, after yesterday’s round of one-over, the 40-year-old is currently tied 67th in Germany on two-under, one shot below the cut line.

But with many of the competitors still to take to the course, the two-time Ryder Cup winner might just sneak in depending on how those rounds go.

Starting on the 10th, the Broome Manor pro quickly moved to two-under for the day with birdies on 10 and 12 before a bogey five on 13 saw him move to level par overall.

Howell then claimed birdies on 16 and 17 before dropping another shot on 18 as he went out in 34.

The Swindon star then dropped shots on two and seven with a birdie on four sandwiched in between.

After finishing his round on Thursday with a double bogey six, Howell ended his round today with back-to-back birdies to set-up an anxious wait.
