SWINDON’S David Howell looks set to secure his place for the weekend at the British Masters after a second round of five under par.
The Broome Manor Pro went into the second day have scored level par yesterday but made a big move up the leaderboard with a round of 66 at Woburn.
Starting on the back nine, Howell got himself off the mark early with a birdie at the par-four 10th and followed that up with a three on the par-four 12th.
Howell looked in control of his game and soon found himself breaking into the top ten when he recorded an eagle on the par-five 15th.
The 40-year-old slipped back as bogeys on the 17th and first saw him move back to two-under-par, but Howell finished strongly.
A run of three straight birdies started on the par-three sixth as Howell finished his round tied ninth, just four shots off clubhouse leader Soren Kjeldsen.
