DAVID Howell enjoyed an early slice of Turkish delight after getting off to a positive start in Antalya this morning.

The 40-year-old Swindon ace began his Turkish Airlines Open campaign with a comfortable two-under-par round at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal this morning, with former world number one Lee Westwood the early leader.

Starting on the back nine, Howell birdied both the par-four 10th and par-five 11th before repeating the trick on the 15th hole.

The two-time Ryder Cup player sailed through at par for majority of his round, barring a tricky double bogey on the par-four third, which he rectified with another birdie on the next hole.

Howell, who is playing alongside Gary Stal and Tyrrell Hatton, is set to tee off his second round at 7.05am on Friday morning.
