DAVID Howell saved his best for last to finish 17th at the BMW Masters in Shanghai this morning.
The Swindon ace produced for best round of the week on the final day at Lake Malaren Golf Club to finish with an overall score of 11-under-par following his four-under 68.
The two-time Ryder Cup winner secured his first birdie of the day on the second hole and he then followed that up with another on the par-four fifth.
The 40-year-old then picked up birdies on 11 and 14 before a bogey on 17 saw him slip back to three-under for the day.
The Broome Manor pro claimed a birdie three on the 18th to secure a 17th place finish and more the 81,000 euros in prize money.
However, that was not enough to prevent Howell from slipping a place to 25th in the Race to Dubai which concludes next weekend at the DP World Tour Championships in the United Arab Emirates.
