WILTSHIRE slipped to defeat in their opening Inter-County Team Championship clash of South West Week at St Enodoc in Cornwall.
Captained by non-playing skipper Paul Green (Marlborough), the county lost out 9.5-4.5 in their opening match of the week against Gloucestershire today.
Despite wins for Garry Slade (Bowood) and Jack Charman (North Wilts), Tom Law (Broome Manor) and Jake Bolton (Ogbourne Downs) halving their matches, Wiltshire were 5-3 down after the singles contests.
They were unable to wrestle back the advantage in the foursomes contests, despite halves for Slade and clubmate Luke Gorman and Cumberwell Park's Ali James and Ben Amor (Marlborough).
