WILTSHIRE suffered a crushing defeat to hosts Cornwall in their penultimate Inter-County Team Championship match at South West Week at St Enodoc yesterday.
Wins over Dorset and Devon on Monday and Wednesday following an opening-day defeat to Gloucestershire had put Paul Green's side back into contention for the title.
But those hopes were dashed as they were swamped 13-1 by the home side, failing to register a victory.
The only bright points for Wiltshire were halves for Ali James (Cumberwell Park) and Jack Charman (North Wilts) as they lost the morning's 7-1.
And their fortunes did not improve in the afternoon foursomes as they suffered a 6-0 whitewash against the home side.
Wiltshire were concluding this year's competition with a clash against Somerset today.
