DAVID Howell is waiting to complete round two of the Porsche European Open after a second fog-affected day in Germany.

Having finished off his first round with a score of two under par, Howell was forced to tee off his second round just hours after on Friday afternoon.

Starting on the back nine, the 41-year-old wasted no time moving his way up the leaderboard with a birdie on the 11th.

Howell's progress was halted when he dropped a shot on the par-four 13th but the Broome Manor Pro was back on track with back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16.

Howell followed that up with seven consecutive pars before his round was curtailed by bad light for a second day, with four holes left.

Three hours and 25 minutes of play were lost to heavy fog on Thursday morning and after taking a break from his opening foray that evening, the elements also intervened the next day as players were prevented from resuming their campaigns until around 10.30am UK time.

Getting back under way on the eighth hole, Howell racked up seven successive par scores before dropping a shot with a bogey on the par-five 15th.

However, he produced an immediate response by completing the par-four 16th in three strokes, recording a two-under 69 for his opening round.
