DAVID Howell finished with a flourish at the Porsche European Open this afternoon.

With the event in Germany reduced to just three rounds due adverse weather, the 41-year-old saved his best until last.

Having made the cut for the third and final round with an overall score of five-under-par, the two-time Ryder Cup winner, starting on the 10th was quickly into his stride.

With birdie fours on 10 and 12, the Broome Manor pro quickly started to climb the leaderboard with low scores being produced across the field.

The Swindon ace picked up another shot as he moved to three-under for the day with a birdie three at the 15th.

However, Howell blotted his copybook with bogey fives on 16 and 18 as he turned for home six-under overall.

After parring one and two, he birdied the third before handing that shot back with a bogey four at the fourth.

With a par on the fifth, Howell went on to birdie three of the last four holes, including back-to-back birdies on the last two holes of the day to record a four-under 67.
