DAVID Howell finished the British Masters on level par, well down the leaderboard, as he carded a final-round 71 at The Grove in Hertfordshire today.
The Broome Manor man recorded three birdies in his final round to finish in tied 58th position on a rain-affected final day at Chandlers Cross.
Play had got under way at 7:45am, but only three groups were able to complete the opening hole before play was suspended due to partially flooded greens.
Those scores were then declared null and void as greenkeeping staff worked to make the course playable ahead of a restart at 10:05am, with a redraw meaning play started from both the first and 10th tees.
Starting on the 10th, Howell birdied his opening hole before back-to-back birdies at the 18th and first briefly took him to three under par.
However, two dropped shots in three holes from the fourth halted his progress and another on his final hole, left him back where he had started.
Sweden’s Alex Noren claimed a third European Tour title in his last eight events, winning by two shots from Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger.
