A year’s support for Prospect Hospice at Ogbourne Downs Golf Course culminated in the presentation of a cheque for a fantastic £8100, received last weekend by Sheryl Crouch, Prospect’s head of fundraising.
Club captains Stuart Shewry and Beryl Doherty handed over the cheque, which had been raised throughout the year through a wide variety of fundraising activities at the club.
Events over the course of the past 12 months included a race night, a 24-hour golf round, a 50-hole challenge, and a ‘bonus-ball’ fundraising idea at the club’s regular Friday quiz night.
“We are delighted to have raised so much during the course of the year,” said Shewry.
“Beryl and I visited the Hospice last year and were very impressed by what we saw, and we are very pleased to have made a contribution towards a charity that makes such a difference in our community.
“Many of the club’s members have been touched by the work of the Hospice, which is why I think it has been so well supported by our members during the year.”
Crouch said: “The funds raised will make a real difference for the patients and families cared for at Prospect, and our thanks go out to everyone at Ogbourne Downs for their support and generosity this year.”
