GOLF: Hutton trails in West PGA opener
WILTSHIRE professional champion David Hutton, from Hamptworth, was the county's top player in the West Region PGA's first big event of the season, the 54-hole TBS Cornish Riviera Festival at St Enodoc, Newquay and Trevose, writes ERNIE NEWELL.
He was joint 10th on five over par 214, 16 strokes behind the winner, European Tour player David Dixon, who romped home by nine and broke the tournament record by three with his stunning 198.
Bristol-based Dixon, 31, started with a round of two under par 67 at St Enodoc, shot another two under 67 at Newquay on day two and finished with a seven below 64 at Trevose.
Hutton, Hills Wiltshire professional champion for the past two years, had rounds of 68, 71 and 75.
