SWINDON grabbed a point in a 2-2 draw against Premier Division 2A rivals Chippenham in a game dominated by the visitors.
From the start Chippenham attacked and Swindon defender Claire Sage kept the scores level by making an incredible goal line save. Chippenham scored the only goal of the half when a well crafted move ended with a cross that was smashed into the net past the Swindon keeper Alison Greetham.
The second half saw Swindon start to break through the Chippenham defence and they drew level after 12 minutes. From a break in midfield, Shona O’Dwyer used her pace to grab an opportunistic goal and level the scores at 1-1. Encouraged by their goal, Swindon continued to press and deservedly went ahead 2-1 after Vicky Stokes scored her 26th of the season from a short corner.
Whilst Swindon had the lead, Chippenham continued to dominate and pressed for an equaliser. A quick break left the Swindon defence reeling and Chippenham levelled the game at 2-2. Both teams had opportunities to win the game, with Gemma Scrase coming very close for Swindon, but the points were shared.
