A SUPER strike from captain Luke Cejer was not enough for Swindon men’s first XI as second-placed Devizes eased to a 3-1 victory.

Despite starting the stronger side, Swindon failed to make their pressure count. This allowed the visitors to come back into the game and they broke the deadlock midway through the first half, bundling the ball past Alan Gough.

Swindon regrouped and pushed for an equaliser but a well-taken short corner saw Devizes double their lead.

The hosts refused to surrender and captain Cejer led by example as Swindon gave themselves a lifeline before the break.

Man of the match Chris Parsons found Cejer from a quick free-hit and the skipper exchanged passes with Phil Scarisbrick before smacking an effort into the backboards, despite some desperate defending.

Swindon produced plenty of creative play after the break but just failed to find an equaliser and visitors Devizes made them pay as a late strike saw them seal the win.
