SWINDON Hockey are making an early year push for players to join their thriving junior section.
Swindon regularly enter boys and girls teams in various competitions in the U10, U12 and U14 age groups as well as offering training to those that are new to the game or just want to enjoy social hockey with their friends.
Players wanting to fulfil their potential can take comfort in Swindon Hockey Club’s record of getting their juniors into the county sides. Currently there are 16 players selected in the Wiltshire Junior Academy across the age groups from Swindon. One of the club’s juniors, Shona O’Dwyer, is currently part of the England Hockey National Age Group Academy with whom she is attending a residential at Lilleshall at the end of the month.
Swindon also had an unprecedented seven players, selected in 2014 for the South West Regional Performance Centre.
The club are currently running free taster sessions for children in school years four to nine. Those interested should go along to training at Isambard Astro on Wednesday evenings 6pm till 7pm and ask for Mark O’Dwyer, alternatively you can email them via juniors.swindonhockeyclub@ hotmail.co.uk
