SWINDON men’s 1st XI snatched victory from the jaws of defeat when they triumphed 7-6 at home to Leominster with an incredible final two-minute turnaround to make it three wins on the spin.

The game started positively for the hosts, working the ball well and creating early opportunities.

One such chance saw Alex Hynes find Jim Towers in the circle. Towers remained composed, beating two players before calmly slotting the ball home.

Leominster hit back quickly, taking advantage of some indecisive defending to make it 1-1, before taking control of the game with two more quick goals.

Swindon responded as Luke Cejer played combined with Phil Scarisbrick before slotting home.

The travelling side then regained their two-goal advantage before Cejer crashed home his second to make it 4-3.

However, another well-taken drag flick saw Leominster go into the break 5-3 to the good.

Swindon’s revival kicked off from a short corner, which was slipped left to Chris Parsons. A pinpoint pass found Cejer on the back post, who cooly flicked beyond the keeper for his hat-trick.

And another short corner moments later saw Swindon draw level. The ball was popped out to Towers, who slammed beyond the static keeper.

Despite being the better side, Swindon found themselves undone again as Leominster beat the despairing Alan Gough to make it 6-5 with seven minutes to play.

Swindon were not to be denied, though, and with two minutes to go Towers pinched the ball before squaring to Henry Cheney, who tied the game.

Not content with the draw, Swindon probed again and a cross from Parsons was deflected to Towers, who angled the ball into the net for the winner.
