Swindon men’s first team’s good start to the second half of the season came to an abrupt end when they were beaten 4-1 at top-of-the-table Cardiff & Met B.

The visitors competed well with the robust hosts early in the game, however, the students managed the game well and took advantage of some weak umpiring.

The first goal came around 15 minutes in, with a Swindon challenge in the circle bouncing onto a Cardiff stick, giving Alan Gough no chance to keep it out.

A second followed shortly afterwards as more slack defending allowed Cardiff to coast into half-time with a two-goal lead.

The second half saw two further goals early on for the hosts, and Swindon could only muster a late consolation through Jim Towers.
