SWINDON ladies secured a convincing 6-2 victory over Chippenham in Premier Division 2A of the West Clubs Women’s Hockey League.

Their first goal came when Hannah Lewis played in Vicky Stokes to net from close range.

Top-scorer Lewis didn’t take long to add to her own tally following some good work from Adriana Boullasa and Swindon’s third came just before half- time when Gemma Scrase passed to Lynsey Wall to strike home.

Wall netted her second after the interval following a penalty corner.

Boullasa scored the goal of the game after a 25 metre run to make it 5-0.

Chippenham opened their account from a short corner, but Stokes restored Swindon’s five-goal advantage with her second of the match.

However, in the dying stages, the visitors bagged their second.

n SWINDON’S men’s first team coasted to a 3-0 success over Bridgend in the Davis Wood League.

The hosts took an early lead when Pete Gilbert picked up the ball inside the final third and drove beyond four Bridgend defenders before finishing with aplomb.

However, Gilbert was then given yellow card before Henry Cheney saw green before half-time.

Swindon doubled their lead 10 minutes into the second half through Cheney, who had his initial shot stopped by the keeper before he calmly tucked the ball away at the second attempt.

Swindon looked good for their lead, and veteran keeper Alan Gough was largely a spectator, occasionally rolling back the years for a spectacular short corner save or two.

With minutes remaining, Swindon finally put the game to bed with a third goal.

The ball was expertly fired in and deflected by Phil Scarisbrick before Thomas Hunt popped up to bundle the ball home for his first goal for the club.
