SWINDON were in dominant form as they demolished local rivals Marlborough 6-0.

The home team set out to contain from the start and it took a well-crafted goal from Swindon, with Chloe Lewis setting up captain Vicky Stokes who forced the ball home.

Within a minute, Gemma Scrase doubled Swindon’s lead when her shot from the top of the circle past flew past the keeper.

Marlborough continued to defend well and frustrate an attacking Swindon forward line holding the score to 2-0 at half time.

The visitors’ dominance was reinforced quickly from the restart as player of the match Linda Brouwers smashed home a penalty corner.

With the Marlborough team on the back foot, Swindon pressed forward, with Rachel King deflecting a cross into the roof of the net to make it 4-0. Chloe Lewis become the creator of Swindon’s fifth as Hannah Lewis extended her goal tally for the season from close range and Lynsey Wall made it 6-0 in the closing minutes.

After the game, player of the match Brouwers said: “When we execute our game plan, we play phenomenal hockey and score well. It’s a great team to be a part of.”
