SWINDON ladies returned home from newly-promoted Jaspers with three Premier Division 2A points in the bag after their 5-1 success.

The visitors’ first came courtesy of a deflected own goal after captain Gemma Scrase drove into the circle.

Vicky Stokes made it 2-0 from a penalty corner but this was her last impact on the game as she picked up a head injury that forced her to receive medical treatment.

Jaspers started the second half strongly and kept Swindon’s keeper Sarah Newman busy but it was Swindon’s youngest player Chloe Lewis who scored the next goal.

After some intelligent work from Gael Little a long ball found Rachel King who’s pass allowed Lewis to tap in from close range to make the score 3-0.

A well worked penalty corner gave Jaspers their only goal but a sublime individual effort from Adrianna Bollousa and a calmly converted goal from midfield teenager Charlie George made the final result 5-1.

The men’s first shared the spoils in an eight-goal Conference North thriller with Robinsons A.

Swindon started brightly and took an early lead, with less than 10 minutes on the clock thanks to striker Thomas Lentschner.

However, by the time the interval had arrived they were 3-1 down after a poor rest of the half and some sloppy defending gifted the visitors a way back in the game.

Swindon began their comeback with a goal from captain Luke Cejer, but again some poor defending led to the visitors being awarded a penalty corner which was flicked into the top left corner, making the comeback even harder.

This signalled the best period of play from the hosts and managed to score two goals in the last 10 minutes from Lentschner and Tom Goldsmith, with time running out Swindon had a final chance to grab all three points but the shot from Cheney went wide of the post.
