SWINDON twice came from two goals down to navigate the banana skin of Conference North basement boys Lydney.

The home side, who have just a single point to their name, twice caught out Luke Cejer’s side in the early stages to lead 2-0 before a burst into the circle from the Swindon captain led to Thomas Lentschner hitting back.

Shortly afterwards, a chance to draw level went begging as Henry Cheney’s penalty-flick was tipped onto the bar and, two minutes into the second period, another mix-up at the back allowed Lydney to make it 3-1.

Another Swindon penalty flick, this time from Lentschner, was also saved but with 10 minutes to go, a flowing move set up Lentschner to reduce the deficit and then Cejer made no mistake from inside the circle to make it 3-3.

Not content with a point, Swindon pressed for a winner and, five minutes from time, the ball popped to Lentschner, whose deflected strike looped over the keeper to spare his team’s blushes.

Captain Cejer said: “Despite not playing well, we had enough in the last 10 minutes to get an unlikely win and keep ourselves in the frame.”
