SWINDON were left to rue their own indiscipline as they let a 3-0 lead slip to draw 4-4 at county rivals Devizes in GoCrea8 League Conference North.

The visitors performed well in the first half, being solid at the back and clinical up front, with two goals for Tom Goldsmith and one for Thomas Lentschner, ending his recent barren spell.

In the second half, Devizes posed more of a threat and managed to pull a goal back from a short corner.

Despite being under consistent pressure from the home side Swindon managed another goal on the break but string of poor tackles saw both Lewis Dyer and Adam Carr sent to the sidelines with green cards, before Tom Wickens was sent off for a poor tackle – five minutes in the sin bin and an additional 10 for his reaction.

The final 15 minutes saw a further yellow for Carr, leading to Swindon having to defend with nine men but Devizes fought back scoring three times.

Swindon face Whitchurch A at Isambard Community School on Saturday (12.30pm).

ROYAL Wootton Bassett moved into the third round of the Vase Cup following a penalty flicks win at Gloucestershire-based Cleevillians.

The hosts took the lead in the ninth minute, before Craig McLauchlin levelled the scores when slotting the ball through the keeper’s legs after some good work from Matt Daniell.

After the break Cleevillians restored the lead with a fine solo effort goal, however, a last-gasp strike from Tom Ponting saw Bassett take the tie to penalty flicks.

Mark Turner, Ponting, Mark Tolley, Daniel and Will Fieldsend all duly dispatched their flicks before Jack Rose saved the hosts final flick to send Bassett through.
