SWINDON stopped a run of defeats with a 4-2 Conference North victory at Swansea City.

The Isambard School-based side were the better team throughout and took the lead twice, skipper Tom Goldsmith getting on the end of a Luke Cejer cross to open the scoring.

A minute later, Swansea drew level, despite their centre forward appearing to kick the ball past keeper Alan Gough – Swindon’s protests to the match officials fell on deaf ears.

The visitors restored their lead minutes before half-time as Goldsmith bagged his second of the game but the Welsh hosts, who had only lost once at home prior to this match, restored parity again and then piled on the pressure to as they looked to take the lead.

But Swindon held firm and made it 3-2 against the run of play when Jordan McKenzie tucked the ball home.

Gough then pulled off a fine save to maintain Swindon’s lead before Cejer ensured that the points would be heading back over the Severn Bridge with his team’s fourth of the match.
