SWINDON men smashed double figures as they won 10-2 away to a lacklustre and still pointless Newent side in Central Two, and climbed into a promotion spot.

The game started at a blistering pace, with Swindon taking the lead very early through a Thomas Lentschner rocket drag flick which eventually found its way over the line via several deflections.

Minutes later Chris Parsons hammered the ball beyond a despairing goalkeeper.

It was 3-0 inside10 minutes when Henry Cheney grabbed his first goal from a well-worked move.

The half ended 5-1 to the visitors with it as good as over. The second half saw heavy Swindon pressure, who put another five past the hosts.

Swindon now welcome Cardiff Uni A to Isambard School, looking for another three points against a struggling team.

Swindon Ladies beat Lansdown 3-1 in East Central 2 after getting off to a flying start. Forward Adriana Boulossa scored in the eighth minute with a classy reverse shot that flew into the back of the net.

Only 48 seconds later Boullosa passed to Chloe Lewis, who took the ball at the top of the ‘D’ and smashed it into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

Fifteen minutes in, Lansdown pulled a goal back.

When Swindon had a short corner in the second half, Linda Brouwers managed to extricate the ball from a melee to find a diving Gemma Scrase to make it 3-1.

Lansdown were then denied by a save off the line by Sarah Anstey.

Player-of-the-match Brouwers, who covered every inch of the pitch, said it was “a great team effort and a great three points for us”.
