CHELTENHAM Gold Cup winner Coneygree will parade at The Betfair Lambourn Open Day next month.

Coneygree will be joined by Cole Harden, who triumphed in the World Hurdle on the third day of the Cheltenham Festival for Lambourn-based trainer Warren Greatrex and record-breaking steeplechaser Kauto Star will also join the line-up on Good Friday.

The village of Lambourn is preparing for the 24th Open Day with more than 10,000 visitors expected to attend.

The annual charity event allows visitors a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at some of the country’s top racehorse training establishments and meet the trainers, staff and horses.

More than 30 state-of-the-art racing yards are expected to open their doors to the public in the ‘Valley of the Racehorse’.

There will be an opportunity to see the facilities at the Valley Equine Hospital and a range of demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day, including horses swimming and farrier displays.

The events field with its central arena will open at 1 pm with a full programme of equine and country-related shows and a falconry display, in addition to demonstrations of country skills.

The main arena highlights this year include the popular Camel Racing, Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Driving and a Puissance show jumping competition with top kockeys.

There will also be pony rides for children and an array of trade stands and food stalls.

Tickets can be bought in advance online from the Newbury Racecourse website until March 31 at £12. Under 12s go free.
