- Reporting by NED PAYNE
That's it. Brilliant win against the league leaders.
90 seconds left.
Fojtik smashes Cesky. An apt microcosm of this period. Swindon have dominated.
GOAL! (Wildcats 5, Basingstoke 3, 52.40)
It's been coming, it really has. Sam Bullas with the unassisted goal from close range. Watt wanted a set-two with Graham seconds before and after the goal!
Nell once more is equalled by Lyle. The skipper rolls his eyes. He can't believe it!
Nell and Bullas both have shots blocked from point-blank range.
Brilliant pick out of the air from Lyle after Nell's shot from the right. It looked in all the way.
Become increasingly end to end.
Eleven minutes left for Cats to keep this lead.
GOAL! (Wildcats 4, Basingstoke 3, 45.40)
And there it is! You can't say they don't fully deserve it. Nell gets his second of the period and Swindon lead for the first time. The assist came from Perkkio.
Bison are clinging on for their lives here.
Anyone for overtime?
Baird goes close. Cats bossing it now.
GOAL! (Wildcats 3, Basingstoke 3, 40.33)
Nell hustles down the right and gets himself a bit of space. It's enough. He beats Lyle at his near post and we're all square.
Period three is go.
And here they are!
Teams about to come back out any second now.
Shots on goal totals now stand at 24 for Wildcats and 35 for Basingstoke.
End of period two.
Cats counter and Hoog is in on goal. Instead of beating Lyle, the puck dribbles to safety and the Swede goes careering into the boards.
Good hustling by Skinns and a nervy moment for Swindon.
Linesman Thrower loses his footing for the second time in two minutes. Roared by the supporters.
Good spell of pressure from the hosts.
Puck drifts across the Bison goal with Lyle nowhere but it's scrambled away.
Brilliant diving save from Lyle to deny Perkkio low down following's Hoog's square pass.
Lots of battling but not many clear chances at either end.
GOAL! (Wildcats 2, Basingstoke 3, 26.09)
Lovely goal. Perkkio sends the puck wide and charges through the middle. Between them Nell and Hoog get it back in the centre where Perkkio puts the puck through Lyle's legs. Game on once more.
Quiet start to period two.
Fojtik tried to score all on his own then, and he nearly did. Great charge through the middle. Shot weak.
Bison back to full strength.
We're off and a matter of seconds in, Bison are now just one man down.
Teams are out.
A minute and a half before the teams return...
Two goals down at the first break but it could have been much worse after that slow start.
Matias Perkkio scoops over and Nell's effort hits traffic. No cigar. Cats will still have a two-man advantage when they come back out for period two though.
Tony Redmond binned now for two minutes.
Greener gets two minutes for slashing.
GOAL! (Wildcats 1, Basingstoke 3, 17.48)
Bison restore their two-goal lead with Doug Sheppard scoring from Greener's assist.
GOAL! (Wildcats 1, Basingstoke 2, 16.07)
Jonas Hoog dives inside from the right and sends a low shot past Lyle. Vintage stuff from the Swede. Assists from Aaron Nell and Shane Moore.
Stevie Lyle has not been tested too much by Swindon so far. Basingstoke look pretty happy with their lead and aren't desperate to push it too hard.
Far from the ideal start for the hosts, but they have started to regain their composure now and are making forays forward.
GOAL! (Wildcats 0, Basingstoke 2, 6.15)
The lead is doubled through ex-Swindon man Jaroslav Cesky. Assists by Owen and Joe Greener.
GOAL! (Wildcats 0, Basingstoke 1, 4.03)
Greg Chambers fizzes the puck into the slot and Joe Rand is on hand to tap past Dean Skinns for a powerplay goal.
Now Tomas Fojtik is in the box and Bison are back to full strength.
Carl Graham off for cross-checking. Two minutes.
Nicky Watt shoots from the point. Nothing doing.
We've had the anthem and we're primed and ready...
Huge cheer for Cats as they appear on the ice.
Out come the players.

Teams warming up and going through the usual rigmarole as we speak.
I'm not expecting any changes to the line-up that lost 3-1 at Guildford last night. Decent performance that was. Nothing to be too downhearted about. The hosts stand a good chance this evening.
It's ice hockey time once more as Swindon make heir second outing onto the ice in 24 hours. Basingstoke are the visitors to the Link Centre and face-off is at 7.45pm.
