PLANET Ice Peterborough is Aaron Nell’s least favourite rink in the EPL, but that only makes the Wildcats skipper more determined to lead his side to two points on Sunday.

The Phantoms have been a constant thorn in Swindon’s side in Cambridgeshire this season, beating them by a goal on both occasions, once in overtime.

Forward Nell has never been a fan of the trip east but he believes that ‘work ethic and execution’ will get the Wildcats the right result.

“It’s a very difficult place to play, it’s a horrible rink, a horrible dressing room, the boards are terrible and the ice is terrible,” said Nell.

“It’s a low ceiling and you feel really cramped but Peterborough do well at home, I think they have beaten every team in the league there.

“It’s probably the worst place to play in the league, but it is what it is and we have to work hard and get the two points.

“That’s where they get most of their wins and they will expect to win on Sunday as will we, so it’s about who works hardest.

“If we work hard and execute then we should be fine.

“Peterborough want you to make mistakes and take whatever you give them, so we’ve got to play a solid game and get that win.

“We’ve lost twice there in two close games but this is a huge two points and we have to look to get them.”

Peterborough crushed Manchester 9-4 at home on Sunday and were due to play Telford last night as they looked to cement their place in the play-offs.

Swindon will again be without defenceman Joe Baird on Sunday as he is still a week away from fitness, while forward Floyd Taylor is seeing a specialist for his shoulder injury on Monday.

Head coach Ryan Aldridge will face a decision on which import to leave out as he has five fit and available in Jonas Hoog, Henri Sandvik, Matias Perkkio, Tomas Fojtik and Jan Melichar.

The latter was left out in the 8-5 victory over Slough on Wednesday.

For Peterborough’s part, Slovakian defenceman and pro boxer-in-waiting Jozef Sladok is sidelined after sustaining an ankle ligament injury against the Wildcats on Saturday.

“I don’t think their big import D-man (Sladok) will be playing because he’s out injured, but we can’t take them lightly,” said Aldridge.

“It’s a tough place to play, but we’ve got to be ready for it.”

l SWINDON’S postponed clash with Milton Keynes has been rearranged for this coming Thursday (7.45pm).

The Link Centre fixture was originally scheduled to take place on January 20 but the Lightning did not travel due to the snowy conditions.

Wildcats had beaten MK 5-4 at the Thunderdome the previous night.
