SHANE Moore wants to see out his playing days at Swindon Wildcats after committing to another EPL campaign at the Link Centre.

The 26-year-old defenceman has agreed to a third successive season with Wildcats and says it was a simple decision to make.

Moore, who travels widely in his day job working for Intel, is keen to keep his hockey as local as possible.

“While I’m playing hockey, Swindon’s the only club for me. If I’m not at Swindon, I’ll retire. It’s that simple,” he said.

“I can’t do the travelling any more. I travel 50,000 miles a year for work and I don’t want to be doing that with hockey as well.

“Ryan (Aldridge, head coach) spoke to me directly after the play-off game in Basingstoke and he said he wanted me to come back.

“It was an instant decision. I have really started to enjoy hockey again since I came back to Swindon and it was a no-brainer for me.”

Moore, who was assistant captain for Swindon in 2012/13, is one of the most experienced Brits left on the roster after the likes of Lee Richardson and Aaron Nell departed.

“Those players are looked up to because they are Swindon boys who have done their time and I’d like to think I’m in a similar mould,” said Moore.

“I’m 26 years old but people see me as a veteran of the league because I’ve been playing senior hockey since I was 14 or 15.

“It’s a strange feeling to be viewed that way, but I do feel I can bring my experience to the younger players like I did last season with Paul Swindlehurst.

“I’ve always played in teams that have been in the lower end of the league, but I really think Swindon have got a fantastic opportunity to be up there for the duration of next season.”

Meanwhile, 2012/13 Wildcats netminder Dean Skinns is set to be unveiled by Basingstoke today.
