SKIPPER Shane Moore has warned his Wildcats teammates that Telford won’t constitute easy meat when the teams clash at the Link Centre tomorrow.

The Shropshire side have struggled in the EPL in recent seasons and were thrashed 5-1 by Manchester in their league and cup opener last Saturday.

“Telford might be down in the league in terms of finance but they aren’t down in the league in terms of skill,” said Moore.

“They have got a lot of skill and a lot of up and coming players coached by Tommy Watkins who will have them firing on all cylinders.

“The EPL isn’t like five or six years ago when you could say certain games were guaranteed points.

“Telford can compete when they want to and the top teams in the league have to be ready to play them.”

Following the meeting with Telford, a trip to Peterborough awaits Wildcats on Sunday.

“They are definitely two winnable games, but we look at every game this year as winnable,” said Moore.

“To take three points out of four on the opening weekend and three wins out of four in the challenge games, I’m very impressed with.

“We’re still gelling as at team but there’s so much potential there and there have been moments of brilliance.”

Meanwhile, Swindon’s NIHL team will hope to continue their positive form from the opening weekend when they travel to Oxford to face Bristol Pitbulls tomorrow.

The Link Centre development side defeated Invicta Mustangs 8-4 on Saturday thanks to goals from Michael Stratford (4), Glenn Billings (2), Adam Coakley and Luc Johnson.

Forward Coakley said: “I thought we looked pretty good, especially when you consider that we only trained twice before the game.”
