SWINDON Wildcats duo Ollie Betteridge and Sam Godfrey will play two warm-up games with Great Britain Under-20s next week ahead of the World Championship (Division 1B) in Dumfries, Scotland.

Pete Russell's youngsters will face a Scottish Elite Select side on Thursday (8pm), followed by a game against Solway Sharks a week today (7.30pm).

Both games will take place at Dumfries Ice Bowl, the venue for the World Championship 9.

The six-team competition will see GB will come up against France, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine and gets under way on December 9.

Head coach Pete Russell, said: “I am delighted our GB Under-20s are going to get the chance to play against a quality group of players in our preparation.

“This is exactly what we needed. It will be great for us to work on our line-up and implicate our systems further.

“We will be trying few different approaches on the night, that's for sure.

“I can't thank IHUK, the Elite League, Fife, Edinburgh and Dundee enough for helping get this game on.

“Everyone is pulling together as one and that's a huge positive.”

General secretary of Ice Hockey UK Andy French added: “I would like to thank Dundee, Edinburgh and Fife from the Elite League for putting their players forward for the game.

“This will be a great build-up for the youngsters ahead of an important week.

“Thanks must also go to Solway Sharks for agreeing to next Saturday's game.

“It is great we are getting so much support ahead of the World Championship.”
