SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge says that he is happy with the players that he has at his disposal despite admitting that he would like to have more depth to his squad.

The Link Centre side have made a stunning start to the new campaign with an EPL squad of just 16 players on their roster.

And while Aldridge had only brought in three new faces over the summer months - Kenton Smith, Tomasz Malasinski and Callum Buglass - he knows that he had to ensure that he kept the core of last term’s squad.

“I had to bring key players, I would like a bit more depth it is what it is this year,” he said.

“I needed to bring key players back this year and I brought them back and I’m happy that I’ve brought them back.

“The new guys, I’m happy that I have brought them in.

“Jan Kostal, there is no-one in the league in my eyes comes close to his work-rates and that breeds through the team.

“Malasinski is the same. he never gives up on pucks, he never gives up on plays for the team.

“The pair of them are a big spark in the way that we are playing this year.”

With Cats only playing once over the weekend, on Sunday at Sheffield Steeldogs, Aldridge knows that his team have to be ready.

“It will be a little this week, with us being off a on a Saturday. We need to show that we are ready to start as soon as the puck drops.
