WILDCATS forward Adam Harding is confident of a barnstorming return to form when his side welcome Peterborough Phantoms to the Link Centre on Saturday.

Swindon travelled to Peterborough last Sunday having only lost to Sheffield Steeldogs on the road but, in a carbon copy of that game, the Cats started slowly and could not come back from going 3-0 down in the first period, eventually being beaten 4-2 on the night.

However, the Cats have a chance to carry out their revenge almost immediately as the Phantoms head to the Link Centre in three days’ time.

With the support of the home fans behind them, Harding is confident that they will not make the same mistakes again.

“We’ll prepare differently and we’ll beat them in our barn,” he said. “We play different in our barn. We’ll go hard and we’ll take the body, and that’s what I thought we were missing in the first period to get into the game more.

“We have got to learn from that game (against Peterborough) and not do what we did in the first period and carry on doing what we did in the second and the third - that is how we beat teams like Telford, Guildford and Manchester away.

“I don’t know what it is, whether it is tired legs, but we have got to learn to not come out slow and we need to play like we did in the second and third because we dominated.

“As you could see against teams like Manchester, Guildford and Telford, we can do it. We have just got to learn from our mistakes and come out the same way every game.”

This is the first home league game for Swindon since they were beaten 4-2 at the hands of Guildford Flames.

Since then they have played three league matches away from home, picking up a win at Telford in the process.

Harding is looking forward to the prospect of playing back in front of a packed Link Centre and he knows how important the home support is.

“The fans are massive. You hear them and it is kind of like having a second person on the ice. They’re always there and whether we are up or down, they will always support us,” he said.

“It is huge when we have it and we do appreciate it.”
